Following release, renin converts angiotensinogen to angiotensin I, which is subsequently converted to angiotensin II by ACE. The major factor influencing aldosterone secretion is angiotensin, although an increased plasma potassium concentration also contributes. Renin output, in turn, is regulated by sympathetic tone, blood pressure, and tubular sodium concentration.
